The process of SANIMAS 2007 Central Java and Jogjakarta Special Province (DIY) has reached at Training for Local Community Group (KSM) which also functioned as committee for SANIMAS construction.  This institution is established by local community itself and has a obligation to build, to operate and to maintenance public facility including SANIMAS.  There are three important positions at this institution and they are Chairman, Secretary and Finance. All of committee member at KSM are native community and selected by local community. 

 

The KSM training is facilitated by DEWATS-LPTP and held for two days, 29 – 30 August 2007 at Dana Hotel Surakarta.  The training is followed by 48 of KSM which contained of 30 KSM Central Java and 18 KSM DIY, three persons represented Task Force of Public Work Department (two persons from Central Java and one person from DIY), 13 TFL (SANIMAS facilitator) from Central Java and DIY and three Senior TFL. The training is including three main materials of training and they are leadership, secretary and finance report.

 

 

Pati local government wanted to build a new pilot project for Cassava wastewater treatment plant and asked C-BETech to implement this project.  This pilot project has a purpose to introduce and socialize wastewater treatment plant plus digester to local community. On first phase, local government hope that community would be accepted the system to treat cassava wastewater, able to have an access to this facility and gained some benefit for it such as using gas produced by digester for daily needs, reducing wastewater pollutant which harm surround environment.  

 

Currently, Cassava waste water is not yet presently taking a benefit, it is actually having a potential to produce biogas. To make this happen, we will dealt in main constraint; a highly cyanide load on wastewater and it will obstruct a growing of methane bacteria on wastewater so methanol genesis fermentation process will not run.  Based on above condition, it will need a pre-treatment component to reduce cyanide load before proceeded methanol genesis fermentation process.

 

Some experiments have been conducted on DEWATS lab and it found that it shall reduce cyanide and COD load on the wastewater before run through so the waste can be advanced treated to produce biogas. Reducing COD can be done by aeration and reducing cyanide can be done by Fe. Kind of Fe used which locates in the laterit and it will be more economically (low cost) besides has a benefit to use available natural resources.

 

 

 

Wastewater problems on major city located near Capital Coty Jakarta are generally raising serious environment problem which  impacted to epidemic for humankind such blood fever, diarrhoea etc.  These diseases are extremely dangerous for us if we couldn’t take immediate medical action to prevent it because it could take out our life. Commonly, the disease spread on unhealthy environment condition such as slump and sludge area which located at mostly capital city and major city in Indonesia.  Most of wastewater come from domestic, industries and small business such hotel, hospital etc. 

 

 

There are a lot number of hospital on major city, so all hospitals must have an appropriate wastewater treatment plant to minimize pollutant materials while they discharged on water bodies (river, city canal etc) so it able to meet environment standard according to Minister of Environment Regulation.  The environment standard is stipulated by local authorities and environment official will indicate the wastewater is safe to discharge into water and will not harm surrounded environment.

 

Short list surveys were started on May 2007 and had a purpose to identify a group a location which feasible for SANIMAS program 2007.  On 2007, there would be many regions on Central Java attracted to SANIMAS implementation and there were Brebes, Kendal, Tegal, Pekalongan, Magelang, Surakarta, Semarang, Purworejo Jogjakarta and Magelang. Besides Central Java, there were some province on Kalimantan such as West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and South Kalimantan.       

 

Construction of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) at Tofu Industry in Margoagung village, Seyegan, Sleman had been completed and it would be inaugurated by Sleman regent on few days ahead.  The construction contained of bio digester plant and wastewater treatment plant (anaerobic and aerobic).  Compared with other construction already built,  this construction included complete wastewater package from inlet, digester, expansion  chamber, settler, anaerobic baffle reactor and filter reactor, horizontal gravel filter plant and indicator pond.   The completed WWTP would absolutely impact to the better quality of effluent.  Because of the far distance among tofu industries, it used a long pipe installation (about almost 2000 meters).  Bio Digester had produced bio gas as energy resource, but until now, management at community group (KSM) had not yet decided who should consume the gas.
